PADI Open Water Certification Class

Course Outline:

The course consists of approximately 18 hours of instruction (6 sessions) and qualifies for 1 College credit through ACE. The time is divided between classroom instruction in the theory of diving and adapting to the underwater world, and pool sessions where you will learn the skills to dive. Each class is designed to increase your knowledge and understanding and build your confidence in diving.

 

Schedule:

One 3 hour class per week for 6 weeks. (Students Must attend all sessions for certification)

The next class meets @ 7pm on either Wednesday or Thursday. Sessions start Thursday, January 10th or Wednesday, January 16th. There is a free Discover Scuba experience on  Thursday, January 3rd@7pm and Wednesday, January 9th @7pm (a chance to try scuba before signing up for the class). Below is the tentative schedule for the next 6 months (subject to change):

January 3rd, January 9th,  February 21rst, February 27th, April 10th, April 16th, May 29th, June 4th, July 17th, and July 23rd. 

Open Water Certification classes begin:      

January 10th, January  16th, February 28th, March 5th,  April 17th,  April 23rd June 5th, June 11th, July 24th, and July 30th

        

Prerequisites:

Minimum age: 12 years old, 10 and 11 years old with a parent who is a certified diver or if parent takes class with 10/11year old student.

Must be in good physical health (physicians approval may be needed). Ability to swim 200 yards unassisted and tread water for 10 minutes.

 

Supplied by the Ski & Scuba Connection LLC:

Instruction, Books (course and logbook), use of tanks regulators, BCDs, weights and wetsuit during the 6 training sessions.

 

Supplied by the Student:

Mask, Fins, Snorkel, Weight Belt and Compass. (We will go over the equipment need on the 1st night of class so do not go out & purchase any gear before 1st night of class). Our Store is located here in Greenwich at 26 St. Roch Ave (down the street from the Hamilton Ave Elementary School & St. Roch Catholic Church). You can schedule you own personal Equipment Consolation, where we will assist you in selecting the gear you need to take the class.

 

Cost:

Open Water academics and confided water training $ 325 to $ 350 (depending upon venue).

Open Water certification Dives, 4 open water training dives completed over 2 days (Saturday and Sunday) equipment rental: tanks, regulators, BCDs and certification fees $175. (min 4 students). (wetsuits, entry & boat fees, lodging, food and transportation to dive site not included).
