DIVE THE USS ORISKANY
May 29, 2010 to June 1, 2010
cancelled due to oil spill - call for new dates

Pensacola is the final resting place for the former USS Oriskany CV/CVA 34. At 911 feet long, 157 feet wide, and over 150 feet tall, She is the largest vessel ever sunk as an artificial reef. She's upright on the bottom. Depth to the top of the ship is 69' (now 80'), and the flight deck is at 135' (now 135' to 146'). There's plenty to see above 100' making her a great dive for all skill levels!
**Hurricane Gustav Update: As many of you have heard, the Oriskany has settled into the sand and listed slightly to starboard a little since Hurricane Gustav rolled through. This makes most parts of the tower 8-10' deeper than at the time of sinking. The top of the island is now at 80'. The flight deck is at approximately 146' closest to the tower (the port side of the flight deck is still around 135'). This puts the flight deck out of the recreational dive limits. However, the most interesting parts of the wreck are still in the 80-110' range.
